Although 20 odd years have past since the demise of the President Kim Il Sung, his life and exploits are highly appreciated and remembered worldwide through the passing of the years. I believe that this is the common viewpoint of the world progressive people that the immortal exploits of the President Kim Il Sung is of great significance that will last generation after generation.
The modern history of Korea is closely connected with the excellent leadership of the Great Leader President Kim Il Sung. In his life time the most epoch-making steps of progress took place in the more than 5000 years history of Korea. The Great Leader President Kim Il Sung was in the van of the heroic revolutionary liberation struggle against the Japanese colonialists. He founded the glorious Worker's Party of Korea just after Korea's liberation and build up the Worker's Party of Korea with the great Juche Idea, set up by him, as the guiding compass.
He founded the DPRK, the first state of popular masses where the working people became the master of the society. He defeated the armed invasion by the US, who boasted of being the world “superpower”, thus honorably defended the dignity and sovereignty of the country.
After the Korean War, the US said that DPRK would not rise up again even in 100 years, however, President successfully led the postwar reconstruction in a short period of 3 years and finished the historic task of industrialization in 14 years, thus turned DPRK into a powerful socialist industrial country, independent in politics, self-sufficient in economy and capable in national defense. His exploits of defeating the US and Japanese imperialist powers one after another in one generation and building a model socialist country vividly prove the outstanding leadership the President Kim Il Sung.
From his early days of teens when he set out on the road of revolutionary struggle to the last day of his life, he performed great feats that will remain not only in the hearts of the Korean people but also the progressive peoples worldwide.
He has created and authored Juche idea that one is the master of his own destiny and has the power to shape his own destiny, thus elucidating the path to be followed by people in their struggle for independence. The creation of Juche idea is one of his great exploits and this marks the historic significance.
The Juche idea becomes a powerful banner for the world progressive people who are struggling for freedom and liberation and for the building of a powerful society, and here is the very brilliant feat and exploits of President Kim Il Sung, rendering to the human independent cause.
President Kim Il Sung made immortal contribution also to the just cause of global independence. He gave assistance with all sincerity to people of many countries in their struggle for national independence and worked energetically to strengthen the international friendship and solidarity between the nations and to develop the non-aligned movement for global peace.
From the time after the country's liberation to the last days of his life, he met over 70,000 foreigners from 136 countries including over 120 heads of state, some 200 heads of parties and 76 heads of government. All the people who were received by him were completely charmed and attracted by his great personality and moral virtue. In the process of several visits to Korea, I myself had 3 golden opportunities to meet President Kim Il Sung personally and had honor to take picture with him, and now it is another great honor for me to recall his high and noble image with deep emotion and reverence for him.
The Great Leader President Kim Il Sung was always unremittingly fighting in the first front for the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea and for securing peace on the Korean peninsula. He thus set forth the forth numberless of realistic and fair proposals to achieve these goals including the three principles and the three charters for national reunification. At the same time he was very much respected as a great leader and statesman in the international communist and anti-imperialist movement and among all peace and independence loving people the world over.
The reunification movement of the Korean people has undergone serious ups and downs due to the policy of dependence of foreign forces, confrontation and imperialist war manoeuvres. But what has been patently demonstrated is that the three principles and the three charters created by President Kim Il Sung are the fundamental principles and the only fair and reasonable methods for Korea’s reunification widely supported by broad masses of the Korean people in the north, in the south and abroad.
Indeed, President Kim Il Sung was a great statesman, and great man that history has ever known and his immortal exploits will shine through ages in human history and that is why he will always remain forever in the hearts of people.
Availing myself of this opportunity and on the occasion of 20th demise anniversary of the President Kim Il Sung, I want to assure my belief that the DPR Korea will emerge victorious and that the cause of global independence and desire for peace will be surely realized based on the great exploits of the President.
