WHEN we talk of greatness of Comrade Kim Il Sung, the outstanding great man of the epoch, we should start from the characteristics of the situation prevailed when he embarked on the way of revolution.
The revolutionary activities in his early years coincide with the heyday of imperialism when the whole world was divided and possessed by the biggest colonialist powers governed by a fascist regime or the like. This situation led the world to the global war and some large scaled military disputes, resulting in the ehe principles of the state building in the future.
The task which this kind of state should carry out is to realize the independence for guaranteeing the sovereignty in one respect and on the other developing the domestic productive power. It is because the foreign economical and political pressure does not work in the states where the independence is realized. As seen above, Comrade Kim Il Sung had foreseen the emergence of the neo-colonial states which seemingly have the symbols and shapes of state sovereignty outwardly, but actually subject to the multi-national financial and military powers.
Today, the role of former suzerain states is not played by certain great powers, but by the international organizations like NATO, EU, World Bank and the like. In many countries seemingly independent outwardly (for example, EU), every detail of life is controlled by the international organizations.
The quantity of the production and export quota and even the size of the fishing rod are controlled by the multinational organizations. Today these trends hidden behind the so-called “Open Market”, “Globalization” and “Collaboration” are, in essence, a new type of subordination and ineffective(non-productive) for its irrationality.
They have nothing in common with the socialist planned economy, only opening up markets for them and removing their competitors to satisfy their interests. The fact that the economy of the East European countries is still fall short of the level of indices of 1990s when socialism collapsed is a good testifier.
Contrary to this trend, Comrade Kim Il Sung put forward the principle of building an sovereign state, independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in defence. In this way the DPRK could avoid the negative impact of this trend which Comrade Kim Il Sung had foreseen.
Another point that I want to say is the fact that it was just that he gave a primary importance to the ideological work in defending the country’s independence. The experience testifies that an attack against the economic and political independence of each country starts from the hold-down of its power of ideological opposition. A remarkable example can be found in the East-European countries where so-called color revolutions were rampant mainly in the ideological areas first while introducing the deceptive slogans of “Multi-culture” to the pure characters. What was obvious was that in Eurasian countries, where the leaders were respected in highest esteem and peoples were united ideologically and willingly behind their leaders, any attempt of the “Color revolution” certainly met frustration. Such a thing happened in many countries especially in Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Syria and so on.
Comrade Kim Il Sung was right also when he had foreseen that the multi-national forces would attempt to oppress all the nations aspiring after independence with a coup d’etat or invasion. We can say this also was his clairvoyance. When he was alive, the super powers’ active interventions to small nations had been refrained by the confrontation between the super powers that was called the conventional “Cold War”.
After the fall of the Soviet Union, the US, the only super power, declared itself as an “international gendarme” and invaded Libya, Yugoslavia and Afghanistan, but did not dare to do the same to the DPRK. It was because the DPRK had a different idea from those countries in the concept of the defense. The latter were relied on conventional forces, whereas in Korea all the people were fully prepared to join the army to safeguard their supreme commander at the cost of their lives.
Besides, some countries laid stress only on improving living standard in allocating the budget, but the DPRK put priority to strengthening the army under the slogan of “we can survive without candies, but not without bullets”. As the result, those countries mentioned above went under in face of the imperialists’ blow and ruined their livelihood and independence, whereas the DPRK is continuing to pursue their revolutionary cause, launching its home-made satellites and retaining nuclear weapons. The Korean People’s Army founded and brought up by the Great Leader President Kim Il Sung has turned into a powerful socialist creative force under the wise Songun leadership of the Great Marshal Kim Jong Un, honorable successor of the heroic cause of President Kim Il Sung.
The Songun Politics guarantees the peaceful life of the Korean people and its creations despite the imperialists’ permanent nuclear threatening. It is not a coincidence that they say that President Kim Il Sung is a great man who had changed Korea with no more than plows in the past to one possessed of artificial satellites and bombs. Moreover, the miraculous change in Korea is a good practical proof of his extraordinariness. ***
