April 27th marks the 2nd anniversary of announcement of the historic "Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Reunification of the Korean Peninsula".
On this meaningful day in 2018, north-south summit meeting and talks were held in Panmunjom for the first time in the history of national division of Korea, and it led to the announcement of the Panmunjom Declaration thanks to the bold decision and noble intention for national reunification of Comrade Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The Panmunjom Declaration stated that; firstly, the north and the south will make an all-round and epochal improvement and development in their relations so as to relink the severed blood vessel of the nation and bring earlier the future of co-prosperity and independent reunification; secondly, the north and the south will work together to defuse the acute military tension and remove the danger of war on a substantial basis on the Korean Peninsula; thirdly, the north and the south will closely work together to build a permanent and durable peace mechanism on the Korean Peninsula.
The adoption of the Declaration served as a significant event which demonstrated to the whole world that Korea is a single nation and they can surely achieve peace and prosperity by themselves.
The entire Korean nation and peace-loving people of the world are craving for the historic Panmunjom Declaration, which was under spotlight of the whole world and world-impressed event at that time, be faithfully implemented to create stable and peaceful environment on the Korean Peninsula and improve inter-Korean relations on a steady basis.
The Korean nation will, in the future, too, continue to make sincere and persevering efforts to bring about genuine national reconciliation and unity, and further conduct courageous and just activities to put an end without fail to division and pain lasting for over 70 years with concerted efforts of the whole nation and to usher in a new era of lasting peace and common prosperity on the Korean Peninsula.
Availing ourselves of this opportunity, we'd like to pay heartfelt tribute to peace-loving people of the world who have exerted positive efforts on and rendered wholehearted support and solidarity in hope of national reconciliation and reunification, and peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
