July 4th marks the 48th anniversary of adoption of the July 4th North-South Joint Statement in which the north and south of Korea reached a joint agreement for the first time in the history of national division on the Korean Peninsula.
Publication of the July 4th north-south joint statement served as a historic event in which the north and south affirmed their common aspiration and will for national reunification and demonstrated, home and abroad, strong will of the entire Korean people to achieve the cause of national reunification peacefully on the principle of independence with their concerted efforts.
The July 4th Joint Statement clarified three principles of independence, peaceful reunification, thus providing a fundamental guarantee for Korean reunification.
June 15th North-South Joint Declaration and October 4th Declaration, fruition of two rounds of north-south summit meetings held in 2000 and 2007, are its materialization, succession and practical development of three principles for national reunification, thereby exalting the immutable truthfulness and great vitality of July 4th North-South Joint Declaration.
Comrade Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, bearing firm decision and will, noble love for the country and nation to achieve without fail national reunification, which was lifetime intention of Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, eternal leaders of the Korean people, and century-old desire of the entire Korean nation, arranged three rounds of north-south summit meetings in the year 2018 alone.
He is leading the Korean people in their just struggle to ensure a lasting and durable peace, prosperity and national reunification on the Korean Peninsula.
The Korean Committee for Solidarity with the World People will, in the future, too, would hold fast to three principles for national reunification and declarations jointly agreed by the north and south and fulfil its mission and role in the noble work for bringing about independent national reunification as required by the desire and interests of the whole nation.
