The Beacons that Lead the Korean People to the Road of defending the Integrity of their Country
Adamos Katsantonis, President of the Korean Culture Friendship Association
I am sending my comradely greetings from Cyprusto you!
I am joining my voice of love and solidarity with the heroic people of D.P.R. Korea. I wish we could meet in our beloved Pyongyang, which has offered so much love and so many excitements to us.
Although the covid-19 pandemic has deprived our physical presence, I am sure that the hearts and spirits of all of us are in Pyongyang, amongour beloved Korean people. I hope we all meet soon in our beloved city of Pyongyang.
I'm going to start with a little introduction about my country, to highlight some similarities with D.P.R. Korea, and also see the differences that arise through the historical path of the two countries.
I come from a small island located in the east of Mediterranean Sea, with a small number of inhabitants (about 1 mln), very small geographically (9,251 km2), but very large in history (Human habitation of Cyprus dates back to the Old Stone Age).
Because of its geographic position, my country Cyprus has always been the target of all kinds of conquerors, who wanted to impose their sovereignty on the wider region.
The years pass, conditions change, but the geostrategic position of Cyprus remains unchanged and always important for the strong countries of the world. Cyprusis at the crossroads of three continents, thus the poor and militarily powerless Cypriot people were doomed to live always enslaved and worked against their willsfor the interests of other countries.
Many conquerors passed through Cyprus, and plundered its treasures, golds, coppers, and antiquities. Venetians, Franks, Ottomans and Englishmen had destroyed the body of Cyprus until Cyprus finally gained its independence and became a member of the United Nations in 1960.
But English militaries and American imperialists could not leave such an important area out of their controls. So a coup d'état was planned by the CIA and executed by the Cypriot and Greek fascists, which was of course undermined by our first President Makarios himself.
The coup gave the green light toTurkey to invade Cyprus on the pretext that it was a guarantor force. The coup d'état and invasion took place in 1974, and since then, Turkey has illegally possessed 37% of the Cypriot territory. In 2004 the Republic of Cyprus became a member of the European Union.
I made this little introduction about my country, as I thought its course and fate are in many places similar to those of Korea.
Korea, as one nation had experienced the barbarity of the Japanese occupation, which also plundered the country's national wealth. And when it became clearly later that Korea could take its fate into its own hands, the usual suspects acted again, cutting Korea's body in two parts. D.P.R. Korea, since the establishment it has been the red cloth for the imperialists, for the political-economic system that had chosen and for its geographic position, due to the facts that it has borders and ties with China and Russia.
From the very first day, NATO and Americans had and still have a dream of dissolution of D.P.R. Korea, and its surrender to the appetites of capitalism. But they also dreamed of establishing a dummy state, (as in South Korea), which will havea direct border with China and Russia, and an immediate installation of offensive missiles against these two countries.
But with the end of the Korean War, while D.P.R. Korea chose the path of true national independence, my own country Cyprus has entered, albeit divided, into a union of states, the European Union, where at least the small States cannot have free expression as to what their peoples want, nor can they pursue their own, and truly independent policy, whether inside or outside the country.
What we eat, what we drink, what we wear, what we listen to, whom we love, and whom we hate, is ultimately decided by Brussels.
The sovereignty of small states is granted and harmonized, in accordance with the interests of powerful states.
And we all know that since the EuropeanUnion obeystothe Americans, then we conclude that in the end, we are all working against our will for American interests.
And here comes as a hope of light, the example of D.P.R.Korea, which, despite theinhumane embargo, and constant external threats, continues to pursue its own national, truly independent policy, which is intended to serve the well-meaning interests of the Korean people.
Unlike South Korea, where multinational corporations take advantage of the people's efforts, and all the accumulated wealth ends up in the hands of the few, the people of D.P.R. Korea know that they are working for a cause, and that purpose is the progress and prosperity of the people, guaranteed through a truly national independence.
The efforts of the honest sweat of the Korean people are returned to the people themselves, through social benefits, education, culture, the development of progress and prosperity.
But all thesecould not have been done without securing the country's borders and territorial integrity, which would have been unthinkable if the country had not exercised thepolicy of national independence. While the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung thought about the basic principles of the Juche Idea, and knew what was happening on the planet, he laid down the national independence as a basic foundation of the Juche Idea.
So D.P.R. Korea decides for itself its own future, needs neither the advice nor the interventions of foreigners to do what it believes is best for its people.
But such a behavior is unthinkable for the hawks of NATO, who are accustomed to sticking their noses everywhere, and imposing their own policy against the interests of other peoples. The unprovoked interference in foreign countries, the assassinations of democratically elected presidents, the financing of fascist groups for sabotage in other countries, and in general the international conspiracies supported by Americans have no end.
Small countries, one after the other, succumb to conspiracies and become puppets in the hands of Americans.
The exception is D.P.R.Korea, which is a thorn in the nostrils of American imperialists. The Korean people, always united around their leadership, are determined to defend at all costs the territorial sovereignty and independence of their country. Songun together with JucheI dea, are the beacons that lead the Korean people to the road of defending the integrity of their country.
Today, together with Comrade Kim Jong Un at the helm of the country, the Korean people united as never before, defendits inalienable right for freedom and national independence.
Μonolithicity is what characterizes the Korean people and gives the feeling of confidence to continue their conquests.
«Νational independence» as a term is not something vague, it is not something that is a simple theory. It is an essential ingredient for the survival and pride of a people.
In the case of D.P.R. Korea, national independence is a real denaturing of the term into action.
All people have much to learn from the way D.P.R. Korea handles its own affairs with pride, seriousness and sobriety.
Conspiracies against D.P.R. Korea never stop, but the Korean people always give their answers through their leaders.
Today, Comrade Kim Jong Un once again gives lessons of national independence and pride all over the world.
His strong resistance to the latest threats from the American president, gave light of hope to the whole world, reminded us that there are still people and leaders who have pride, and who can say no to the appetites of powerful states.
One thing for sure, if D.P.R. Korea wasn't really independent country, then it couldn't survive and standup against the international imperialism.
The inhuman embargo has the same age as the Korean State, it may have brought sufferings to the Korean people, but it will never be able to bend the spirit and pride of this people. All of us see with awe and admiration the resistance of the Korean people against foreign attacks, and we take strength and courage to emulate their wonderful struggle.
It was national independence that kept D.P.R.Korea free for so many years. It was defended with endless struggles by both the Korean people and its leaders.
Comrade Kim Il Sung, designed and dreamed of the national independence, Comrade Kim Jong Il founded it, and today, Comrade Kim Jong Un gives it a real meaning, with his proud answers that gives to the international imperialism, and by strengthening his country's defense capacity.
So let's take the flame of the idea of national independence from the top of the Juche Idea Tower, and let's spread it to the whole world that wants to think and live truly free.
Long live the Korean people!
Long live the national independence of the people.
