The Course of the Struggle for National Liberation

Speech letter from Belgium Korea Friendship Association on the occasion of the 75th founding anniversary of the WPK.

On behalf of the Belgium Korea Friendship Association,  we express our support, solidarity and  high esteem, in congratulating the Korean people whole-heartedly on the occasion of the 75nd anniversary of the foundation of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

Already on the harsh, snowy day of 17th October, 1926, President Kim Il Sung founded the Down-with-Imperialism Union, the first revolutionary organization of the country, which laid the organizational and ideological basis for a party, in the course of the struggle for national liberation from Japanese imperialism.

On this basis  was founded the Workers’ Party of Korea on 10th October, 1945. It was the founder and is the leading force of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Korean People’s Army. On the founding, Inaugural Congress Kim Il Sung made a speech, titled “On Founding a Marxist-Leninist Party in Our Country and its immediate tasks”.

After having led the resistance to the invasion of foreign aggressors and afterwards directed the agricultural cooperative movement, the socialist industrialization and the cultural revolution, the Workers’ Party of Korea continuously aims at the independent peaceful reunification and grand national unity of the country, and peace in the East Asia region and the whole world.

On May 3, 1983, Kim Jong Il, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, wrote, under the title “Let us advance under the banner of Marxism-Leninism and the Juche Idea” that “the Juche idea means that the masters of the revolution and construction are the masses of the people and that they are also the motive force of the revolution and construction”.

On April 20th, 1992, delegates of 70 parties  from Europe, Africa, Asia and America, who were invited by the Workers’ Party of Korea to the DPRK, signed the “Pyongyang Declaration”, which stated that:

“Socialism has long been the ideal of mankind and it represents the future of mankind. Socialist society is, in essence, a genuine society for the people where the popular masses are the masters of everything and everything serves them”.

The guiding ideology of the Workers’ Party of Korea is Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, whose quintessence is the Juche idea.

The Seventh Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea took place in September 2016, under the guidance of Kim Jong Un. As a result of the defined lines and strategies, the national economy has been made modern, IT-based and scientific, opening  prospects to a self-supporting economy, and to successful achievements in the fields of science, education, public health, arts, sports and national defense.

In August 2020, on the 16th Meeting of the Politbureau of the 7th Central Committee of WPK, after heavy rains and floods had destroyed crops and houses in Kangwon and Hwanghee Provinces and Kaesong, Kim Jong Un, chairman of the WPK, appealed for qualitative construction of houses in appropriate places based on the opinion of the inhabitants, so that no damage can occur even in case of future natural disasters and flood. He also appealed Party members, especially those in the capital, to take the lead in aiding the provinces.

We fully support  the Workers’ Party of Korea in realizing  the interests of the Korean people and the foundation of one united Korean nation.
