The History of Victoriously Leading Independent Development of the Country
Marta Grelak, Poland
THE 75th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea is soon to arrive. The WPK was founded by President Kim Il Sung on 10th of October 1945 and wisely led by him and then by Chairman Kim Jong Il and Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un through decades of victories and service to the people.
The 75-year history of the WPK is the history of victoriously leading independent development of the country, as well as the history of cherishing the people-first principle. The history in which the Party has believed in the people as in heaven and served them with great affection and devotion.
This affection and devotion remind of those that a caring mother would have for their children and that is why the WPK can be genuinely called mother party. So it is obvious that such an anniversary is more than extremely important for the Korean people. It is of enormous importance also for us – foreign friends of Korea – as we all look with tremendous admiration on the proud path covered by the DPRK under the leadership of the WPK.
It was 5 years ago, in October 2015, that I came to the DPRK for the first time in my life to celebrate 70th Founding Anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea together with the Korean people and friends of Korea from around the world. It was the realisation of my long-awaited dream to see the reality of the DPRK with my own eyes and it, as well as my next visits to this country, made me keenly see that the DPRK is possessed of an incredible and wonderful strength. The strength that lets it steadily and with impressive energy advance along the road chosen by its people achieving great victories - and all this despite many roadblocks thrown in its path by formidable hostile forces. The strength that amazes and inspires those who witness it.
Although the DPRK is burdened with imperialist sanctions so heavily like no other state on the face of the earth, one can't really see it while being there. What can be seen there is modern and beautiful country where state's care for the people is visible at every step and people walk down the streets with happy faces and are enthusiastic and good-hearted.
The DPRK is the country which thrives under the wise leadership of respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un. A country where people receive all kinds of medical services free of charge at hospitals furnished with modern medical facilities, where children and youth are provided with high quality free education at all levels and free possibility to develop their passions and talents through extracurricular activities, where even housing is free and where the state keep building beautiful and modern public facilities and dwelling buildings and realising all kinds of other projects to provide people with better conditions for a happy life. For an outside observer it is startling that all those things are possible not only without external help, but also in the situation while legitimate foreign trade and cooperation of the DPRK is blocked by draconian sanctions – however, this is what can be done thanks to incredible strength of the DPRK. The strength created by outstanding and energetic leadership of respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, single-hearted unity of the whole society and policy based on love for the people, self-reliance and independence that makes it possible to concentrate on genuinely taking care for own people's wellbeing instead of satisfying interests of foreign forces.
Today, as the 75th anniversary of the WPK approaches, I think of its great history, shining succeses, and also about happy time that I experienced while visiting the DPRK and learning about its reality. I recollect seeing in the DPRK many beautiful places created for happiness of the people, having amicable talks with friends from the DPRK and other countries and being deeply excited while seeing respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un waving to the people with a bright smile on his face after the military parade.
Today, although due to global pandemic of Covid-19 visit to the DPRK is impossible, I’m constantly moved by policy of love for the people pursued by respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un. As an example, I can cite the fact that after villages Kangbuk and Taechong get destroyed by natural disasters he saw to it that new, better than previous ones, dwelling houses and public buildings would be built for the people. He even personally visited the villages and talked with farmers about what kind of houses they prefer to have. Something like that would be unthinkable in the capitalist world, where in face of natural disasters ruling politicians throw up their hands helplessly instead of helping affected people.
I'm absolutely sure that the future of the DPRK will be victorious and bright, as it has at its helm the Workers' Party of Korea led by respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.
